Strength and Mobility
You can't have Physical Therapy without the physical part! You also can't make significant improvement or long-lasting results without strengthening and mobility. Manual therapy and modalities are only effective with proper exercise prescription.
The Dynamic Duo
It’s all about finding the balance between strength and mobility. The body needs both, but differs in specific areas based on function.

Strength Training
There are so many benefits to strength training and I am a strong believer that movement is medicine. Majority of the time, our "big bully muscles" take over for the small joint stabilizing muscles who have taken a break. Physical therapy is necessary to tap into those small muscles and basically "jump start" them back to proper functioning so our joints are happy and at ease.
Mobility Training
This form of exercise isn't necessarily the stretching you may be thinking of. It is teaching your body to move and utilize its full range of motion so joints remain healthy, muscles remain elastic and tissues mobile. Think of the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz. He was unable to move until he started lubricating his joints and actually moving. Movement is natural lubrication for our joints and we therapists like to say "motion is lotion" :).
